New River Radars

      5/28/2002

New River Radars

Sperry Marine launched a new generation of flat-screen river radars that provide significant savings in size and weight for installation in a small, crowded wheelhouse. The new MK6217/9 River Radar, which meets all Rhine River Radar specifications for European inland waterways, features a high-resolution color 18.1-inch (46 cm) flat panel display. This display unit can be table-, bulkhead-, deckhead- or console-mounted and the compact processor unit can be easily accommodated. The system comes with a choice of 7-ft (2.1m) or 9-ft (2.7m) antenna with two menu-selectable turning speeds.

The MK6217/9 processes and displays radar signals with a high degree of accuracy to improve the safety of vessels navigating rivers, channels and narrow waterways. The radar incorporates state-of-the-art interference and clutter rejection, for the clearest possible picture. Standard navigation functions include range scales from 150 m to 64 km, menu-controlled setup and operation, multi-level video and target trails, two independent variable range markers and electronic bearing lines, rate of turn and rudder indicator, ship's profile outline and navigation lines.
