Bollinger Shipyards (Louisiana, USA) has delivered the Seacor Eagle, the first of two supply-utility vessels for Seacor Marine (Houston). A nearly identical sister ship, Seacor Hawk, is scheduled for delivery later in November 2001. The vessel meets and exceeds new regulatory requirements and is full ABS (A+, AMS) 100 gross tons (U. S. Reg.) and less than 500 gross tons (ITC registered tonnage) which, according to the shipyard, makes this design more attractive and profitable for any operator.
Seacor Eagle is 145.5 feet in length, with a 36-foot beam. Maximum draft is 9 feet 10 inches. It is powered by two Cummins KTA-38MO diesel engines developing a total of 1500 BHP at 1600 RPM. They drive two Bollinger 72-inch by 57-inch stainless steel propellers through Twin Disc MG5301 reverse/reduction gears. Steering is provided by a Jastram steering system and anchors are handled by a Coastal Marine Equipment system. Seacor Eagle has 2800 square feet of aft deck space with a maximum deck load of 390 tons. It has four mud tanks with a total capacity of 50,000 gallons of liquid drilling muds. Other capacities are over 60,000 gallons of fuel, 560 gallons of oil, and over 10,000 gallons of fresh water.
