New method to measure and align rotating machinery has been introduced by Fixturlaser, Mölndal (Sweden). Accurate alignment measurements while machinery is running are rather challenging task and static measurements seldom provide satisfactory results. Fixturlaser has made it possible to make accurate alignment measurements under typical machinery operating conditions such as varying load, strain caused by pressure in the piping system, etc.
Fixturlaser Shaft 100 laser-optical system uses two laser diodes and two position sensitive detectors. It offers large touch-screen display with easy to understand graphical representation of procedures that help to guide operators through the entire process. A typical system is supplied in rugged aluminium case with fixtures, magnet bases and has a communication port for printer and connection to PCs. According to the company, the Royal Dutch Navy has successfully used Fixturlaser Shaft100.
