Optimized Water Jet

Kamewa Water Jets launched its new A-series aluminium water jet, designed for outputs of between 500 and 2700 kW. The hydrodynamically optimised design of the unit offers 5% to 10% higher overall efficiency than competitive aluminium water jets. This has been achieved through greater pump efficiency and low inlet losses and translates into a higher speed at a given output, or lower fuel consumption at a given speed.
The A-series, unlike the stainless steel SII-series, will be delivered as a complete, standard, pre-assembled package, and is ideally designed for workboats, naval vessels, yacht and ferries. Typical applications include pilotage and port service, search and rescue, coast guard and customs surveillance. The unit, which can be mounted by welding or bolting, is designed for boats and vessels ranging in size between 15 and 50 meters. The first model, Size 40, is already on the market. The unit package includes the welded aluminium inlet duct; the pump unit featuring Kamewa´s advanced mixed flow pump geometry; a steering nozzle and split reversing bucket, including steering and reversing rods; a shaft; water lubricated bearing in the guide vane chamber and thrust bearing on the back of the inlet duct; and steering and reversing cylinders. Maneuvering is handled by a state-of-the-art electronic control system.
