Portable Foam Applicators

IMSSCO Corporation (San Diego, USA) welcomes the recent Memorandum of Agreement between ABS and U.S. Navy which formalized process and procedures used in survey and classifications of Military Sealift Command (MSC) ships. IMSSCO’s Portable Foam Applicators, the PFA-95, issued for a rapid response onboard ships for fire fighting, has been approved by both authorities for years. This move is seen as a logical development bringing naval and commercial industry sectors together, in the interest of safety.

Captain Ira Richman, President & CEO of IMSSCO, said "It is good to see another American Company adapt and progress to the dual quality standards of naval and commercial applications, that we have. This will allow our MSC Fleet to now be properly equipped, in the sprit of SOLAS and to stringent ABS Rules for Building and Classing Steel Vessel, with Type Approved fire fighting equipment, such as the PFA-95."

The PFA –95 units, manufactured by IMSSCO, are used on cargo, passenger and naval ships. They are especially effective and useful on ships with limited crews. Any crew member can deploy A-FFF fire suppressing solution in seconds, to the seat of the fire.. The PFA-95 is not intended to replace fixed foam systems and it is designed to augment the existing equipment. A Rapid Response Team can instantly start fighting fire while the fixed system is being activated and the before the Damage Control Team arrives. With PFA-95 firefighters can easily reach any place onboard where there is no fixed station and is especially useful when deployed with the Rescue & Assistance Team to another ships which is on fire.
