The Investigation Commission appointed by Petrobras to investigate the causes of the accident to platform P-36, submitted its preliminary report to the company directors, with details of the progress of the investigations undertaken between 27 March and 20 April. The Commission consists of nine Petrobras employees. One of them is a member of the Macaé CIPA (internal commission for accident prevention) elected by fellow employees. It also includes representatives from COPPE/UFRJ (the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro post-graduate school) and the North Rio de Janeiro State Petrol Workers Union (SINDIPETRO/NF).
Petrobras has also received the report issued by the Norwegian certification company Det Norske Veritas (DNV). DNV had been contracted by Petrobras to act as independent consultant to follow up the investigations relating to the accident and issue a technical report on the methodology adopted and the conclusions of the Investigation Commission. Summaries of the reports submitted to the top Petrobras management by the Investigation Commission and DNV will be made available to the Press.
