Propeller Modeling Software Awarded

PropCad v3, the propeller CAD modeling software from HydroComp, was recently nominated for the Special Mention Design Award METS (DAME). The DAME prize is awarded every year to recognize superior product design at the METS (Marine Equipment Trade Show) exhibition in Amsterdam.

Donald MacPherson, HydroComp's VP and Technical Director, who was exhibiting at the international trade show, said "With version 3, our goal was to help our users develop more advanced and higher quality propellers. As propeller design and quality improves, so does the performance of all vessels — leading to a better ride, reduced fuel consumption and more environmentally friendly operation. An award from the DAME jury validates our team's dedicated work."

PropCad is a software package for the automatic preparation of 2D design drawings, 3D views and construction data for marine propellers. This latest release has been updated to include a three-dimensional viewer in the main project form that displays changes as they are made, as well as to extend its interface with contemporary solid modeling and NC milling software.
