Repeat orders won by MacGREGOR Cranes

Two recent repeat orders won by MacGREGOR Cranes specify a total of 10 units to be installed on existing tonnage and Newbuildings.

Four 30-tonne SWL specialised grab cranes including eccentric platforms will be delivered to Torvald Klaveness in Norway from MacGREGOR Cranes’ main factory in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The cranes will be installed on the 1996-built 70,120 dwt gearless bulk carrier Balsfjord at Dubai Drydocks at the beginning of 2001, to prepare the vessel for new operational requirements in the Middle East. The cranes are similar to units already retrofitted to the sameowner’s 70,450 dwt bulker Bakra.

The other recent order is for two shipsets, each of three cranes, to be supplied to Szczecin Shipyard in Poland. These will be installed on two 1,700 TEU container carriers being built to the yard’s B170-design for a Greek owner for delivery in 2001. The cranes will each have a capacity of 40 tonnes to handle containers.

MacGREGOR Cranes has supplied shipsets to most of Szczecin’s well established B170 series.MacGREGOR’s Hatch Cover Division has also supplied the hatch cover design and key components for Szczecin’s B170 series, so far for 40 vessels since the first delivery in 1994.
