SNAME 2002 Annual Meeting

2002's Annual Meeting will be held in Boston, for the first time in conjunction with the Annual Ship Production Symposium. The Technical Program will be packed with the latest developments in shipbuilding and ship design and will include a seminar covering the need for and implications of new security measures which need to be implemented by our industry to counteract potential terrorist threats to world maritime commerce and to the international trading nations. This combination, in conjunction with a first class Exposition (IMExpo), promises to provide a unique content-packed technical meeting.

Keeping in tune with the ever-increasing globalization of the maritime industry, the Banquet Speaker will be Keith Read, Director General of IMarEST, the largest international maritime technical organization, and he will be addressing the outlook for a greater and closer coordination among all in marine professional societies throughout the world. No subject could be more timely, particularly as preparations are under way for the first World Maritime Technology Conference to be held in San Francisco next year, organized by SNAME with supporting sponsorship of a dozen major maritime technical societies representing virtually all of the world's major maritime nations.
