Membership has its privileges. Although a membership in SNAME is certainly a privilege, most members don't really know all the benefits that their membership includes. Students, the future leaders of the marine industry, greatly benefit from many activities organized by SNAME. These include a job fair, scholarships, a congress and Student Sections to foster professional development and growth.
Student reception - job fair: created to offer students an opportunity to interact with leaders within the marine industry, gaining insight into employment opportunities and job placement in a social setting.
Scholarships: available at the graduate and undergraduate level. The current program provides financial assistance to those pursuing a degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, ocean engineering, and marine-industry related subjects. For more information on scholarships please contact Erlinda Faustino at efaustino@sname.org
Student congress: an opportunity for students to utilize their knowledge of naval architecture and/or marine engineering. The competition is open to all students attending the Annual Meeting. A cash prize is awarded to the winning team.
Student sections: introduced to foster professional development and growth. Each Student Section has a representative on the local sections Executive Committee. Twenty-two schools in the United States and Canada offering degrees in naval architecture and/or marine engineering sponsor SNAME student sections.
