Samsung Wins Orders for 22 Ships

Samsung Heavy Industries is reported to have succeeded in receiving orders for 22 ships amounting to $1.2 billion this month. According to Samsung Heavy Industries on March 11, it received orders for five 6,200TEUs containerships from NYK Line, ten 4,100TEUs containerships from Offen MBH in Germany, five 4,050TEUs containerships from Seaspan Shipbrokers Ltd. in Canada, and two 105,000tons crude carriers from Euroceanica N. V. in Italy, totally amounting to $1.2 billion.

The amount of orders the shipbuilding company received from January to now stood at $1.4 billion which accounts for 60% of its target figure of $25 billion for this year. As of March 11, the company's backlog of orders stands at 84 ships or 5,550,000tons.
