Sea Launch

Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering "Rubin" participated in the international project "Sea Launch" providing input to construction of the command ship and the launch platform for commercial spacecraft rocket launching system.

Launches from the open ocean using Sea Launch's mobile launch site, a converted oil rig, allow the flexibility to choose a launch site that provides the most benefits to the booster while greatly reducing range-safety issues. The Sea Launch consortium includes companies from USA, Russia, Ukraine and Norway.

"Rubin" has developed the working drawings for installation and assembly of the rocket segment machinery and data electronics. Engineering and consultancy services have been provided during the period of construction, equipment and system arrangement on the launch platform and the assembly command ship. During the development of design documentation, CDB ME "Rubin" has innovated the technology of vibration and strength calculations for foundation structures of the onshore equipment and their adaptation to the ship's conditions and marine environment .
