First presented in 1989 the Seatrade Awards symbolise the ongoing effort to improve maritime standards. The scheme focuses on four crucial areas: safety at sea, countering marine and atmospheric pollution, innovation in ship operations and a new category, innovation in maritime e-commerce and has helped many ideas from the drawing board to commercial success.

From small research teams through to giant corporations, the Seatrade Awards scheme attracts interest from all sectors of the maritime industry. All entries will be sent for preliminary assessment in the Spring. Winners are chosen from a short list by an independent judging panel not connected with the Seatrade Organisation. For the first time the 2001 Awards include a category that recognizes advances in the use of the Internet to facilitate development in the shipping industry.

If you or your organisation have a development that qualifies for one of the four categories, why not enter it now? There are no fees for submissions and no restriction on the number of entries submitted per organisation, but they must have been introduced to the market or approved during the year 2000.
