Ship-to-Shore Communications

Nx Networks announced that it has provided its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions to help Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN) upgrade its existing communications infrastructure. Available on more than 40 cruise ships worldwide, the upgrade will significantly enhance the voice quality for passengers making phone calls from ship to land.

MTN explored a number of options to upgrade its existing satellite communications network and ultimately selected Nx Networks' solutions offering based on the technical strengths of the products. Nx Networks specializes in building communications infrastructure solutions for wireless, wireline and IP-based networks. With the introduction of its new 3000 and 6000 series IP Gateways and its softswitch technology, the company has established itself as an innovator in the next generation communications infrastructure market. These new IP-based solutions are standards-based to allow maximum interoperability with existing and future applications and therefore to deliver to end-users a flexible platform upon which to build their communications strategies.
