ShipRepair & Conversion 2004 will open its doors this week Wednesday 24th November at London's Grand Hall Olympia. Participants and organizers are looking forward to another great exhibition and conference. It presents excellent opportunity to meet and do business with the leading suppliers, manufacturers and service providers to the ship repair, maintenance, conversion, refit and after sales services. The event will leave it's traditional home to go to a new ship repair centre next year, and will not return to London for at least 2 years.
One-day seminar “Practical Guide to Shipyard Safety” will discuss lessons from shipyard disasters in the last two years. Safety in new-build and ship repair yards has moved up the agenda, and is now of increasing importance to all those involved in the area. As insurers pay more attention than ever to risk management in shipyards, this workshop has been organised in order to highlight the key areas of concern, and to discuss ways of improving safety.
The expert panel will give guidance on procedures to follow, risk management measures and how all the stakeholders in the shipbuilding and ship repair process can be involved.
As always, there will be a conference running in parallel with the exhibition. The key topics include:
- State of the industry debate - what can we learn from the industry to raise standards?
- Paints & Coatings forum - what will the new regulations mean to the shipowner/manager and how will it affect the shiprepair yards?
- Conversions: What will the next five years bring?
- Prevention rather than Repair: preventative solutions in initial design work.
- Planning and executing Drydockings - how to save time and money.
- Legal Issues: BIMCO standard drydocking contracts, contract management and claims avoidance will be covered in this debate.
