Many thousands of small craft operate on inland waterways, in coastal waters and make extensive voyages across oceans. While the overall safety record of small crafts remarkably good, nevertheless there are important lessons to be learnt that would benefit all concerned - users, builders, designers and regulators.
The Small Craft Safety conference will be held in London 22-23 May 2001. It will highlight such lessons, and promote public debate within the industry, with a view to improving the safety of small craft, including all recreational craft, whether sail, oar or power, whether used by private owners, charterers, or training organisations and all types of working craft up to about 24m length, including harbour, survey, patrol, police, customs, pilot and survey boats, diving boats, fishing and sea-angling craft.
