ODIM has recently launched its new Smart AHTS™ anchor handling concept. The company claims it is three times as effective as competing solutions in terms of capacity, economics, safety and the environment. During the development phase for the new concept, ODIM has collaborated with STX Europe in a project known as One Ship – One Trip. This partnership has maintained an active dialogue with leading international oil companies such as Shell, BP, Petrobras, StatoilHydro and Aker Exploration.
The ODIM Smart AHTS™ replaces traditional anchor handling winches with the ODIM CTCU® deepwater technology. Combined with a complete winch system, that can handle and install everything a drilling rig needs for safe and rapid mooring. New and efficient mooring methods also substantially reduce fuel consumption by the rig. And the ODIM CTCU® solution can carry out complex deepwater installation of subsea modules.
Calculated for a single rig over one year, utilising the ODIM Smart AHTS™ concept could boost value creation by NOK 200-300 million, according to the company. Annual emissions should also be cut by up to 50-100 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
