Det Norske Veritas Software (DNVS) has signed a five-year package of agreements with Intergraph Corporation (USA) for marine design software distribution, licensing and joint marketing. Under terms of the contracts, DNVS will resell Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore advanced marine design applications to the global shipbuilding industry except for the U. S. military market. Additionally, Intergraph will license its SmartPlant® platform technology to DNVS. The DNVS Nauticus software will be combined with the Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore next-generation ship design software to create integrated applications aimed at improving ship design and construction productivity.

DNVS and Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore will first concentrate on detailed ship design applications and classification tools, followed by comprehensive product offerings for the offshore oil and gas industry, particularly for floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels and topsides.Under an agreement with the Global Research and Development Co. (GRAD) consortium, Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore is continuing development of the advanced shipbuilding software for design of commercial and military vessels. GRAD, headquartered in Hampton (Virginia), represents several major worldwide shipbuilders. Intergraph’s new shipbuilding software shares core and application technology with its SmartPlant 3D product suite and aims to streamline shipbuilding processes, lower manpower and material costs and reduce the time to design and construct world-class vessels.
