Software for Reporting of Accidents

Maritime software company Star Information Systems has launched two new software products for shipping, Star Event and Star Insurance. The modules have been developed in co-operation with Wallenius Lines and Stena Rederi. Star Event is a system for reporting of accidents, near accidents andnon-conformities in accordance with company and legislative requirements. The software includes an expert system to identify what lessons, if any, can be learned from the accident.

Star Insurance is a tool to help shipping companies keep track of information related to insurance claims. It can be used to log and follow up insurance policies and claims. The information can be made available to many people in the company. Star Event is designed to help ship management to report accidents, near accidents and non conformities. In addition, it helps to follow up consequences and execute remedial actions and to help fleet & QA management to analyze events, decide remedial actions evaluate event consequences and marine insurance & warranty cover. Both systems can be used either as stand alone or as part of the Star Information and Planning System (Star IPS).
