Sub-Bottom Profiler for China

      6/21/1999

EdgeTech recently delivered its X-STAR Full Spectrum™ Sub-Bottom Profiler to Yellow River Conservancy Commission, Ministry Of Water Resources. The system is used to find and characterize scour pockets along levies on the Yellow River. These pockets are created during flood stage and become filled with silt when the water current slows. These scour pockets create weak points in the levies that have breached in the past, causing widespread flooding. Using sonar signals, EdgeTech’s sub-bottom profiler is able to find these scour pockets so that remediation can prevent further erosion. A delegation from YRCC visited EdgeTech’s facility in Boca Raton, from June 4 until June 9. The purpose of the visit was to become familiar with other sonar systems produced by the company and to receive additional training on the system they own. More information: EdgeTech Mr. John C. Spruance.
