Submarine Cable Systems and Cable Ships

This one-day conference, taking place in Copenhagen, is organised by Maritime Development Center of Europe and Danish Society of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Bringing together owners, builders, equipment suppliers, service providers, consultants and administrations, the conference will focus on the actual situation within all parts of the cable laying business and also try to look into the future of this interesting sector.

The rapid increase in the requirements for communication during the recent years has created a great demand for communication lines by satellites as well as by fibre optical cables, ashore and at sea. Cable installation at sea and the ocean vessels involved is the topic of this conference. We shall furthermore address other aspects, including maintenance of cables, surveying, the regulatory framework and the requirements to training. Finally, we shall also address the consequences of broadband access for the users of the Internet.
