Submarine Trainer Options Analysis Study

      8/29/2000

CAE announced that its Marine Controls Division with its partner, Computing Devices Canada, have been selected to execute the Victoria Class (ex-Upholder) Submarine Command Team Trainer (SCTT) Options Analysis Study. The study encompasses the analysis of three submarine trainer options as follows:
1) Utilizing Victoria Class existing full military equipment,
2) Simulating/emulating the submarine command team trainer environment, or
3) A combination of the previous two.

The study will assist the Canadian Navy in determining the optimum training programme, and lead to the issuing of a Request for Proposal for the SCTT contract in early 2001. CAE is the controls & instrumentation integrator for the Royal Navy Astute Class Submarines, and provide Integrated Platform Management Systems and Trainers for premier navies worldwide. The company also recently announced that it had been selected, as part of a consortium, as the preferred supplier for the Astute Class submarine Training Service contract.
