Seatrade and Shanghai Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers organized this important exhibition and conference event, held in Shanghai 4-7 December 2001. It attracted a large number exhibitors and visitors from as many as 31 countries. Apart from many Chinese organizations, the Royal Institute of Naval Architects the Institute of Marine Engineers also supported this event.

There were 778 participating companies, some of which exhibited within 14 national pavilions representing Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the USA.

The event attracted 21,257 visitors from China and 1,608 visitors from other countries (total 22,865). Participation of exhibitors from around the world and this huge number of visitors from the host country indicate tremendous interest of the world industry in the Chinese market and a reciprocal interest from the local industry. Marintec China 2001 has proven to be the perfect forum for all maritime professionals who were able to view the latest technology and market trends while exploring new business opportunities and developing international networks.
