Lloyd’s Register has approved SP Swedish National Testing and Research Institute for fire testing of materials, furniture and furnishings and fire-separating structures in accordance with the IMO (International Maritime Organization) rules for fire testing of structures and materials. Fire tests performed by SP will be used as a basis for certificates issued by Lloyds Register.

Since January this year, the US Coast Guard as an independent fire-testing laboratory has also approved SP. Rapp Bomek A/S and Rapp Pyrotec A/S in Norway are the first of SP's customers to have received US Coast Guard certificates. They have fire-tested fire doors that are intended for export to the USA. SP will perform annual inspections of fire door production by these companies.
