The International Symposium on Shipbuilding Technology 2008 - fabrication & Coatings is organised by The royal institution of naval architects and The Polish Society of Naval Architects and marine engineers (KORAB) in association with Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology, Gdansk University of Technology and The Association of Polish Maritime Industries.

Fabrication and marine coatings are important and key areas of shipbuilding technology. There is a demand for thicker and more durable primer coatings to be applied to steel plates prior to initial fabrication of ships to reduce cost of coating larger ships. Anti-corrosive technology in ballast tanks must respond to environmental demands to prohibit the use of tar and reduce the use of volatile organic compounds (VOC). Design and fabrication techniques must adapt to the use and properties of new coating materials.

ISST Poland 2008 will provide an opportunity for all those concerned directly or indirectly with shipbuilding technology to present and discuss the latest developments in these and other aspects of marine coatings.
