Tracking Capability Program

      1/31/2000

Lockheed Martin and Solipsys Corporation have formed a strategic alliance that will apply Solipsys' systems and software development capabilities to support Lockheed Martin's work on advanced surface ship programs, including the U.S. Navy's Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) program. CEC allows ships and aircraft to share sensor and targeting information, enabling one ship to fire a missile against a target being tracked by another ship. This networking of sensors provides improved tracking capability against all types of air and missile targets.

Under a contract negotiated last year, Lockheed Martin is developing Baseline 2.2 software and providing systems engineering support for the CEC program. The company serves as Design Agent for CEC Baseline 2.2, which, as an element of the Aegis Combat System, will enhance the theater ballistic missile defense capability (TBMD) of the Navy's Aegis cruisers and destroyers. Solipsys has a key role in the Baseline 2.2 effort as a strategic partner of Lockheed Martin Sensor netting involves connecting multiple sensors that gather a variety of data and provide to the user a single high-quality tactical picture.
