Two New Cruise Ships

The recently formed company "AIDA Cruises" has given Aker MTW the order for the construction of 2 cruise ships. 77 passenger ships altogether were built in the history of the yard. The last cruise ship – the MS "c. Columbus" – was delivered in 1997. The two cruise ships of type PV 1200 will be due for delivery in the years 2002 and 2003.

PV 1200 has overall length 202 m, maximum speed 21 kn, gross tonnage 42,200 and has total passenger capacity of 1,600. Vessel is fitted with the main engine 27,500 kW.
