UAE Navy Orders Six Vessels

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) will design and build six new naval vessels for the UAE Navy's Baynunah project. Contract details will be finalised during this year, according to a company statement. The French firm Constructions Mecaniques de Normandie (CMN) will provide design, technology transfer and a number of services to ADSB as part of the Baynunah project.

The Baynunah design utilises a proven hull form that provides excellent speed, maneouvreability and sea-keeping characteristics. Each Baynunah vessel will be about 60 metres long and will carry a highly effective combat system. A major expansion of the facilities is underway at ADSB, including the state-of-the-art ship construction workshops and assembly halls capable of supporting the building of several vessels simultaneously.
