Underwater Search Equipment

      5/24/1999

Two Taiwan universities have purchased equipment from J. W. Fishers Mfg., a leading manufacturer of low cost, high tech underwater search equipment. National Sun Yat-Sen University recently took delivery of a Fisher SSS 100K/600K dual frequency side scan sonar. Fishers single frequency and dual frequency side scans are the only low cost systems on the market that come standard with a high resolution 17" thermal printer. NSYSU will use the side scan for undersea search and survey operations. In an unrelated purchase, National Taiwan University's Institute of Oceanography took delivery of Fishers TOV-1 towed underwater video with both black & white and color cameras. The towed camera system will be used to study benthic habitats and various marine species in area waters.
