Virtual Ship Explore Software

      8/27/2002

Just two weeks after christening the first 66m Offshore Patrol Vessel, representing the new "Bad Bramstedt" class, German Coast Guard (Bundesgrenzschutz) ordered an extensive software and data package for Integrated Logistic Support. Ocean Logistics GmbH, a subsidiary of Abeking & Rasmussen - designers and builders of the new vessels, will supply three on-board versions and one shore version of the new developed Virtual Ship Explorer (VSE).

With the VSE on-board version the crew will be able to manage all documentation for ship’s systems, including full spare parts logistic, i.e. from choosing relevant parts from the respective spare parts lists, to storage and ordering needed parts. The system includes compilation of all relevant technical logs as required by regulatory authorities and assists in maintaining compliance with the ISM Code (International Safety Management Code). Maintenance schedules will be generated automatically according to operating hours and relevant spare parts can be ordered via e-mail. Further to these features the shore version allows fleet management by data exchange ship-shore/ shore-ship. Procurement of spare parts and their distribution can be coordinated for vessels of same class.
