Yacht and Power Boat Design & Building

      8/22/2000

Two new books providing excellent guidance and covering detailed aspects of yacht and power boat design and building, including discussion of benefits when using aluminum, have been recently published by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Aluminium Boatbuilding (Third Edition) by Ernest H Sims - this book is an authoritative and practical guide examining every aspect of designing and building aluminium boats. With aluminium now much more widely used, the author highlights the advantages of building in aluminium - the weight savings, inherent strength and minimal maintenance involved - as well as explaining the limitations that should be recognised in comparison with other materials.

Principles of Yacht Design (Second Edition) By Lars Larsson, Rolf E Eliasson - Principles of Yacht Design was the first book for many years to examine every aspect of the process of yacht design and was welcomed with open arms by owners of boats small and large, practising designers, naval architecture students and the boat building industry as a whole. Now revised and expanded for its second edition to cover power boat design in more detail, it makes an even more valuable contribution to our understanding of the process of yacht design.
