AQUACIDE,a marine ballast technology concern, has developed a ballast water treatment system to combat Invasive Species. It meets all existing and conceivable regulatory requirements anywhere in the world. It is user friendly, and it is safe.

  • International standards for ballast water treatment are increasing (ballast water exchange is phasing out). Several processes, such as chemical, filtration, and UV have been developed to meet the need.
  • To date, AQUACIDE's process is considered by many to be Best Available Technology (BAT). To view AQUACIDE's process (US PATENT #5816181), go to http://patft.usplo.gov/netahtml/srchnum.htm.
  • Essentially, the process uses the waste heat from the ship's propulsion system, augmented, if necessary, to pasteurize the ballast water. This takes place while the ship is underway.
Pasteurization is recognized worldwide. The process is independent of shore facilities and port time, and economical to operate, so it provides best value to the owner. It easily meets varying port requirements.so it is master/operator friendly.
