Rockwool has pioneered the successful development of products and systems designed specifically to meet the fire protection and thermal/acoustic insulation requirements of ship and offshore installations.

  • Rockwool is manufactured from a volcanic rock to which coke and limestone are added. The molten material is spun into wool and resin impregnated, light in weight, non-combustible and water repellent.
  • Cellulosic fire conditions are typified by burning timber and upholstery. Hydrocarbon fire conditions are typified by burning oils and fuels, burn far more fiercely and require special protection.
  • Rockwool Penetration Seals can prevent the spread of fire via service penetrations passing through decks or bulkheads. Fully developed and tested systems are available.
Rockwool products and systems are well documented. The type of documentation will vary depending on specific requirements, construction or type of products and includes everything from Type Approvals, Type Certificates, Test Reports and Statements
