The spanish city of Cadiz is located in the southernmost province of Andalusia. From the earliest of times the Sea of Cadiz has played an important historical: the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, Non Plus Ultra of the old culture.

The province of Cadiz enjoys one of the most important buildings and research centres devoted to marine studies in Spain, the Andalusian Centre for Marine Studies, also known as CASEM.

As part of the University of Cadiz, the CASEM is made up of two faculties and one school which offer different degrees related to the sea: Nautical and Marine Sciences, and Naval Architecture.

The Faculty of Nautical Sciences is the Maritime Training Institution of the CASEM. Our students are the ship officers/engineers and masters of the future, or will either hold position in shipping co.
Maritime studies mean much more than Seafaring plus Seamanship. In addition to all subjects related to shipping which mainly focus on life aboard. This means that training has been forced to adapt itself to the new market of science and technology.
