A hydraulic genset is controlled by a hydraulic pump that runs off the main propulsion engine of the boat. It does not matter what the engine rpm is or if it varies because the pump will compensate for that and provide you with your required voltage
A hydraulic genset is smaller, lighter, quieter, than a diesel genset. By eliminating the engine and running it hydraulically it lowers maintainence greatly and improves reliability of the genset.
There is no pollution or exhaust from the genset which eliminates normal ducting. There is no fuel to worry about so operation is cheaper. Without an engine, the life of the system is increased.
You can use a hydraulic genset while underway or anytime your engines are running and keep a diesel only as a backup. Seemless transfere switches can make this simple and automatic.
Harrison has been manufacturing hydraulic driven generators for over 30 years. We provide a high quality product that has been proven in the field. It is not uncommon to see a 20+ year old Harrison generator still operating today.
