Founded in Rimouski in 1944 and unique in Quebec, the Institut maritime du Quebec trains and prepares a competent work force for all fields related to the sea and transportation business. The quality of the training offered is recognize world wide.

• Within its regular curriculum, the I.M.Q. offers trainings in five specialized fields: Naval Architecture, Navigation, Marine Engineering, Professional Diving, Transportation Logistics.
• Marine Engineering and Navigation program contents meet the exigencies of Transport Canada and of the International Maritime Organization and lead to a merchant marine officer certificate.
• By its Continuous Education Service, the I.M.Q. ensure advanced training for the personnal in the industry also: First Aid and Rescue, Firefighting, GMDSS, complete Pleasure Craft Training Program.

The expertise of I.M.Q. is sought-after by many organisatiotions and companies as much in Canada as on the international level (numerous projects under the patronage of CIDA, APPUI, the World Bank, Hydro-Québec International). Member of the SNAME.
