The Engineering Council is the leading body for the engineering profession. In partnership with engineering institutions, the Council is responsible for regulating and promoting the profession in order to maintain a world class engineering force.

• On behalf of the profession, the Council speaks on national issues where a single powerful voice is needed. the Council is committed to forging links with Government, industry and academe.
• In addition, the Council and the Institutions work together to enhance the public perception of engineering.
• The Council works to ensure the brightest and best young people recognise engineering as a viable and highly regarded career option.

The Engineering Council was established by Royal Charter in 1981.
