hello,i am unable to understand the fuction of a thrust block completely.how thrust is transmitted to the ship's hull and what is the role of oil in thrust transmission. if someone can explain. i will be thankful.

the thrust block transmite the propeller thrust to the ships hull through the foundation bolts. as all the foundation bolts of the engine are free through the tank top. but the bolts near the thrust blocks are fitted bolts. its because of the better transmission of the thrust to the hull.
the propeller thrust is taken by the thrust collar of the shaft. and the oil in that forms an oil edge due to hydromynamic lubrication. so that the load carrying capacity of the oil is much more higher. an it seperates the collar from the pads. and more over it has a damping effect of the thrust.
